I'm Rebekah Velazquez (She/Her), and I'm a Puerto Rican freelance photographer, creative producer, and writer based out of Cary, North Carolina with an immense passion for creating art! I have my Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Arts from Montclair State University. I am open to new opportunities for freelance photo, writing, or full-time work in the Raleigh-triangle area.

Here’s a little bit more about myself! My passion for the arts began when I was a little kid playing around with my parent’s cameras, reading countless books on photography, and watching way too many movies. I love all things 80s music, travel, black & white photography, rom-coms, and terrible b-movies. As an artist, I challenge myself to try new things and strive to create work that excites me. I hope that in my work, my ardent curiosity for the world around me shines through my photography, filmmaking, and writing.

Currently:

• I am a freelance photographer, with a focus on portrait, concert, event, editorial, product, and food photography. In my work, I strive to utilize my wide range of skills in communications, marketing, writing, and media arts when creating new projects with clients.

Other projects I’ve worked on in the past:

• Photojournalist for the music magazine, Music Scene Media where I shoot and write reviews for concerts, albums, and more!

• Teaching Assistant at New York Film Academy where I helped students make their own short films in NYC.

• Rianne Pictures Film Festival assistant where I aided in the development of Women X, by researching filmmakers and short films that would be a great addition to the festival. I was tasked with contacting filmmakers to encourage them to submit their work to the festival.

• TV captioning for various PBS shows including One on One with Steve Adubato.

• Montclair Film Festival volunteer.

• Behind the scenes photographer for short films including, Spilled Tea (2013) (full credits on IMDB)

• PA and script coordinator on short film projects.
